Exercise Lapse

I’m about to have another “exercise lapse” this morning.  Again.

Due to just my latest “alarm clock mutiny” which is me digging in against its attempt to rule over me, the new day is already out of sync.  Although dawn is still pending, time is pushing up against itself.  As usual, I resist sacrificing this praying, reflecting, seeking, writing time in order to do the motions the physical rigors require. So here they go – by the wayside again.

Transformation

Transformation

Transformation.  Whereas the meaning that I learned presumes “instant,” my own doing of it is more like “reluctant plodding.”

But Scripture gets it right, I believe: “…be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”  (from Romans 12:2, NIV).  With this part falling into the middle of a statement with other elements, time is definitely a factor.  Lots of time – lots and lots and lots.

Mind renewal is an arduous process involving many, many episodes of “reluctant plodding.”
